Argentina reach the Quarterfinals after beating Australia 2-1

Argentina get a narrow in over Australia and will face Netherlands in the Quarterfinals of the World Cup.

The teams met at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. The match was officiated by Shimon Martsinyak .

Argentina confidently controlled the game from the very first minute, thanks to which they were the first to open the scoring. It happened in the 35th minute of the match, when Lionel Messi scored after a lay off from Nicolas Otamendi. In the 57th minute, after a huge mistake by Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan, Julian Alvarez increased his team's advantage. In the 77th minute, Australian striker Craig Goodwin took a long-range shot, and the ball, after a rebound from midfielder Enzo Fernandez, went into Emiliano Martinez's goal. In the last minutes of the match, Australia failed to equalize. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Argentina.

In the Quarterfinals of the World Cup, Argentina will meet with the Netherlands.
